The Role
I have massively enjoyed my time working at E.ON. The role I had constantly stretched and challenged me and I enjoyed working with such a large team of great people.
I did feel valued by my colleagues. When I had helped out on a project and performed well, my performance was always acknowledged. But as well as that, if I had done not so well, the constructive criticism I received is something I appreciated just as much.
I had regular review meetings with my line manager and had people with a wide range of experiences and skills that I could approach for any help. With all the roles/tasks I took on, there was always a handover period so that I could acclimatise and the previous incumbent would be on hand to assist in any way.
I had several different roles/responsibilities throughout my placement so I was constantly busy with meetings and conference calls as well as my main role. The majority of the work I was doing was as part of a larger team so there were times when I was waiting for something else to happen before I could continue i.e. waiting for a document to be approved by a manager. This meant though that I could spend time working on various side projects for other people within the business.
I was given my own project to manage through to completion and had to report to the Project Board directly. It was up to me to manage the resources effectively and bring everything together within the allocated timescale and budget.
Even though the role I was in wasn't directly related to my degree, the soft skills I picked up and developed are vital to the next step in my career. Being able to effectively lead a project team, communicate with senior managers in a professional environment and manage my own workload are just some of skills I have developed during my time here.
The Company
The undergraduate team were always on hand to help and they organised various events and get-togethers so that we could mix with the other undergrads in different departments and locations.

Once I've finished my degree, I would love to come back to E.ON to join the graduate scheme.
The Culture
There were regular events and socials organised and everyone got on quite well.
Cheap as chips!
The office is only 20 miles from Birmingham city centre.
There are many sporting activities going on with regular email blasts going out to drum up interest. It's hard not to find something you would enjoy or like to start.
