The Role
On the whole it was enjoyable - as any job some days were better than others.
My various managers appreciated the value I added to the teams. I was thrown straight into a team and treated no differently to 'normal' colleagues.
Support always available when needed. There was always a plan in place for development.
This could change on a day to day basis depending on what projects I was working on. Some days I had little to do. I was never expected to take work home.
I was responsible for the training and early management of a group of new employees. Further responsibility is available if asked for.
I gained some key transferrable skills and knowledge which I can apply to any career.
The Company
I was based across various offices so was interesting to view the different dynamics. Mainly based in contact centre environments so could be quite loud but it meant that there were always people around. E.ON is very open as only the very senior management have their own office - everyone hot desks as they visit different sites.
I was the first person on the Customer Operations undergraduate scheme so it had not been run before. At first my managers weren't sure what to do with me so there was an unorganised settling in period. Once a plan was in place things ran better - however it was a month until this plan came into being.
I was encouraged to attend a minimum of two development courses. I would have monthly meetings with my line manager and placement manager to discuss progress and development. Any expenses were covered when required. I was always encouraged to seek extra opportunities.
The graduate scheme is a fast track to senior management so is a fantastic prospect. As an undergraduate, you get the opportunity to fast-track onto the scheme following a recommendation from your placement manager.
The Culture
Drinks after work now and then and a couple of nights out.
I was based in Nottingham which has a fairly low cost of living.
Nightlife in Nottingham is great. Many clubs and bars across the city centre with varying themes/music.
