The Role
I liked the idea and philosophy of the job, on paper the tasks given looked interesting. However it did not have the chance to actually complete any of them and found myself doing nothing for most of my year. Overall, I was bored most of the time and felt like I was 'wasting' my time there.
Most of my colleagues were helpful, but not always available.
I was given very little support by management. I was mostly left alone, and had to run around for the few firsts months to get something to do. My second supervisor was more helpful, but rarely available, and I could spend months without hearing from any of them. It wouldn't have been much of an issue if I actually had defined tasks to do, as my colleagues were helpful and understanding.
I was bored on a daily basis. There were obviously weeks were I had plenty to do, but overall I was bored 98% of my time. I would spend my days doing nothing, literally, or doing uni work. I tried to get things moving and to find things to do, but only empty 'promises'. I asked to be included on some projects but I was always left out.
No responsibility at all.
I did not develop many skills, but I acquired a few new ones. They will help me especially in the practical side of my degree, but I doubt I will use them in my future career.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office was really relaxed. Everyone joked and it was very enjoyable, with friendly and helpful colleagues. It was sometimes very noisy, but it never lasted too long. Most of my colleagues are friends even outside work, so obviously it helped making the overall atmosphere enjoyable.
The placement was very badly organised. It's a feeling shared with the other placement 西瓜视频s. It felt like HR 'forced' the teams to take on 西瓜视频s, and that they were not prepared at all. The tasks were boring or non-existent, and we had very little support or guidance. The fact that the company was in the process of being split in 2 did not help, so maybe this will be solved in future years.
There were many personal traning and development courses available through the company. They were not very well advertised, and most of the time they did not want placement 西瓜视频s to participate as it was aimed to people staying in the company for longer. But we still had a chance to participate to some internal training.

The graduate jobs offered by the company do appear appealing as they offer international relocation and 6 months rotations, and many graduated have loved and enjoyed their time there. They also offer very competitive salaries and benefits, but from what I have experienced, I would not want to work for this company in future and I doubt I would recommend it.
The Culture
We formed a good group with other placement 西瓜视频s. We would have lunch together and occasionally go out for a meal or drinks during the week-end. The company also organised very nice events during the year, and my team regularly went out for a meal. There was always something planned.
Overall the cost of living was very cheap, but there was not much to do around the area I worked in.
