The Role
E.ON is a very enjoyable place to work at, my colleagues welcomed me to the team and from day one I felt like an employee. At E.ON you鈥檙e placed in a department as the only intern, which enables you to test your knowledge in a professional work environment. At E.ON my colleagues valued my opinions and encouraged me to share my marketing ideas, a truly refreshing experience.
Very valued! I was given limited briefs (in many cases) which gave me freedom to plan my time and seek out the knowledge I needed, to complete my work tasks. This showed their confidence in my ability to carry out the job (even though I鈥檓 just an intern). At the same time I was offered support from my manager who scheduled in regular meetings with me, throughout my placement.
The support was always available when requested. My manager had a very friendly approach, which made me feel at ease. If there were anything I was unsure about, or needed help with she was there! I also really appreciated the amount of colleagues from other areas of the business who happily agreed to meet me and share their knowledge.
I felt very busy at times because I took the initiative to engage in many projects (out of own choice). It is up to you to decide what projects you engage in and how many you take on. Since I was looking for experience the amount of own responsibility and opportunity to set my own schedule was a great bonus.
A lot, the extent of own responsibility over my work was consistent throughout all the departments I spent time with. I was given work which I owned. I felt my colleagues had faith in my abilities (that they believed I could complete the work task up to their standard) and this increased my confidence.
This placement with E.ON enabled me to build on the knowledge I attained in University. I have now developed a specific internal communications marketing skills, which I believe will increase my chances to land a marketing job after graduation. I really recommend 西瓜视频s with a marketing interest to apply to E.ON鈥檚 undergraduate internship!
The Company
It was a great atmosphere, very friendly work environment. All colleagues I meet welcomed me, ensured that I settled in well and felt like a part of the team. I was given a designated desk and laptop from day one which enabled me to start working right away. It鈥檚 a real team spirit at E.ON which made the work even more enjoyable.
Well organised with a schedule set for you as an intern prior to arrival. There are are options to change the plan, which enabled me to further deepen my knowledge in areas of interest, a great benefit!
I could set aside time to meet colleagues who worked in a different area than me, for example the research department, which enabled me to better understand the energy market.

Very appealing, E.ON have a brilliant work environment. Continued learning is encouraged, with training courses offered on the job. In addition their 2 year graduate program offers a placement abroad in Sweden / Germany and the opportunity to pick where you like to spend time in the business ex. PR, Brand department. The graduates I meet really enjoyed the program and recommended it!
The Culture
Yes, interns meet outside work. I did not take part in the any of these activities but I heard other interns enjoyed them!
I would recommend all short term interns to have a look at Spareroom, as that was the by far easiest way to locate accomendation. A room with a short commute from the office can cost 拢300- 拢400, a studio around 拢600. For socialising Nottingham city centre have the most on offer with everything from budget to expensive dining options.
I did not experience the night life, but heard others enjoyed it. I was located at E.ONs Newstead office which is placed in a business park, the best area for nights out is Nottingham city centre.
Yes, a lot of people are in the same situation as you! Have just relocated because of work and are looking to network. Being a intern makes this process even easier as your introduced to other 西瓜视频s prior to joining the company through a intern Facebook group and then when your placement starts.
