The Role
Absolutely loved working on the SDA project, After working on the project I feel that I would defiantly be onterested I鈥檓 going into the rail industry.
The first couple of weeks were just finding my bearings. However as the weeks progressed I was given more tasks and felt more like a member of the team rather than a summer placement.
My Line manager was always available to contact either by email or phone, he always steared me in the right direction which was a great thing to have.
The first few days weren鈥檛 very busy since I was finding my bearings. However I then was really busy due to getting more work to complete.
I enjoyed having responsibilities eg: completing the weekly permits to dig.
I feel I learned a lot of practical skills on the placement that cannot nessaceraly be taught in a lecture room at university. Therefore I am great full for the chance and experience.
The Company
Very nice atmosphere to work in. Everyone was very helpful and nice. Especially in the first couple of days.
Very well organised. Lots of email regarding the placement so therefore lots of information was given to me about the placement before I even arrived on the first day.
The complany arranged my PTSAC and OLEC1 when I was on placement. These are required to go on track when working. They also arranged for me to gin on my SSSTS course when on placement.
I was very impressed by the setup of the company and therefore hopefully can continue with them in the future.
The Culture
I was the only placement in this particular project.
I was commuting in to work so living costs are N/A
