    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement exceeded all of my expectations before I started. I was able to get involved in really exciting projects and travel to various sites across the UK and even Europe. The working environment was very relaxed despite E.ON being a large corporate organisation and I was able to meet a lot of great people.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues made me feel like an integral part of the team. I was not treated like an undergraduate but more like a full time employee at the company. My opinions and ideas were taken on board by the team and many were implemented which was very encouraging and helped my confidence grow.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • From day 1 the people at E.ON were extremely welcoming and made me feel comfortable. This allowed me to settle and get involved in the work really quickly. The management was great at explaining the ins and outs of the company in my first week, as well as helping me set up chats with other colleagues to learn about different departments.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My work load initially was very manageable and kept me busy. When I found that I had more free time I was able to speak to my managers about taking on further work. They were happy to assign me new tasks that were challenging and impacted the business, which helped me make the most of my short placement.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My team were very happy to give me increasing levels of responsibility as I proved the quality of my work. This was one the aspects that really stood out for me at E.ON - the willingness to trust young people with important tasks that impact the company. I learned a lot and got great exposure to the world of work thanks to this approach.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The exposure received due to the hands on, high level work helped me develop a range of different skills. Most importantly, working alongside a diverse, international workforce on a daily basis helped me develop my softer skills significantly and learn from different perspectives. Good insight into the Energy industry and witnessing many examples of how university education can be translated to real work has motivated me to enter my final year with fresh enthusiasm.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was not overly formal and it was normal to go and have a coffee with colleagues at different points of the day. It was actively encouraged to leave your seat after regular intervals to promote a healthy work environment. I think this helped increase my productivity and made coming into work enjoyable.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was organised well for the first period and after this there was the flexibility to take charge of the direction of your projects.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company were willing to invest in extra training courses to help my development such as Project Management training. As well as this E.ON invested in my travel to other locations which was very beneficial in my education about the business and networking. For example, I was able to visit an onshore wind farm and learn about the Operations and maintenance process.

    National Travel

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The future employment opportunities at E.ON are very exciting. There are graduate schemes covering many different specialties and business areas. The schemes are designed to help develop a broad understanding of the company through various rotations. I believe this provides great exposure and helps you identify your future career path.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • There were regular Undergraduate Community days which were organised by the placement 西瓜视频s themselves. Many of us became good friends and met regularly for lunch and outside of work.
