The Role
Brilliant colleagues, lots of travel, variety of projects, responsibility, exposure, and limitless networking opportunities. People were very friendly, welcoming, generous with their time, and collaborative. Everyone I had worked with across 3+ teams has contributed to my experience being above average. My role included alot of travel across different sites, which meant no two days were the same for me.. there was always something different to look forward to in my week. I'm grateful to my managers for getting me involved in a variety of different projects, across different teams. This certainly gave me good breadth of exposure to different aspects.
Colleagues were always very encouraging, more than willing to spare their time to provide support or explain anything in their domain. For the amount of trust and responsibility I was given by my team members and managers, I would certainly give this a 10/10. E.on have a fantastic recognition system called BUZZ, where colleagues send a buzz to each other as a gesture of appreciation or recognition.. and the person's line manager receives a notification about it.
My managers provided adequate support, yet gave me sufficient autonomy to steer how I go along working on the different projects I was involved in. I was sent on training courses on multiple occasions, some of which lasted multiple days. Personal development is certainly ranked as a high priority in E.on.
The workload was optimal. On days with few/no meetings, I would focus more on working on my business development project (Long term deliverable) as well as other weekly tasks on the side. Whenever I felt the urge to fill my plate up with some work, I would directly ask colleagues if they needed any support and no one would really hesitate to get me involved.
I was given a high level of responsibility on multiple projects. These directly influenced aspects such as the design and performance of our systems, as well as market competitiveness and commercial models. The trust and responsibility given were a definitely a source of motivation and reminder of how much of a contribution the work I was doing added value to the company.
Having just completed my placement, I reflect positively on all the skills, both transferable and technical, that I have gained throughout the year. I have built on and acquired lots of engineering skills, alot of which were unfamiliar to me prior to my placement. These will prove to be very beneficial in my degree and beyond. Additionally, the transferrable skills such as leadership, ownership, presentation skills.. as well as other management skills have certainly added alot of value to my skillset.
The Company
I was mainly based in Coventry, at the Headquarters. The office itself is huge. Desks are organised in squares of four, and the atmosphere tends to be relaxed. There are a lot of seating areas in the atrium, great for quick meetings or casual chats, as bookable rooms can tend to be limited sometimes if not booked in advance. The canteen available is quite big, and makes lunch very sociable. The office does however lack some sociable facilities like having a break out room (Billiards, pingpong, etc..). It was surprising, given the size and space availability, that none of this existed.
My Placement was structured to meet specific requirements my university dictates, so this helped me tailor the structure of my placement as it went along. HR had a particular person in charge of overlooking the undergraduates experience, and constantly set up work shops that hosted speakers from different parts of the business. This also focused on the volunteering and event organising aspect as it was predominantly organised by a group of undergraduates in turns every 3 months.
In terms of training and development, it was a team-specific topic. Some of the other placement 西瓜视频s received much less frequent training opportunities than I personally did. I was put on multiple paid training courses such as IOSH-Managing safely, CDM 2015, and CSCS. I was also allowed to travel on site visits to explore and understand what different departments do. Overall, I鈥檝e witnessed first hand how the company does invest in its talent.

Working from home
Due to recent business restructuring following the asset swap agreement with another German energy company (RWE), I have personally lost the interest in resuming my engineering career with E.on after graduating. This is particularly influenced by how I wish to progress my engineering career. However, I would certainly recommend e.on as an employer.
The Culture
Yes. We met somewhat frequently every now and then. There were events organised by HR where we were all required to attend to a particular office to attend, this helped us stay in touch despite being spread across different offfices.
I paid 拢350/month in a 4 bedroom house in Coventry. There are decent prices for share houses there, but a flat or studio would be looking at >拢450.
Good
There was only a weekly football social organised by the employees. But other activities were available to go and do on in evenings on your own.
