Overview
My role involved working within a small team on a digital transformation for a local government organisation. This involved meeting with the client and internally, coming up with strategies to improve services, working on powerpoint presentations, and analysing data within excel.
Skills
I have developed my communication and presentation skills significantly through opportunities to present to clients as well as internally. I also learnt a lot more about emerging technologies currently being used in industry and government to enhance the services they provide.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility considering having no experience. I was given the opportunity to present to clients and help run workshops. I was also encouraged to put lots of work into the final deliverable to be given to clients. I was also introduced to all levels of seniority from associates to partners on a friendly level.
Support & Guidance
I had a career coach, a buddy and 2 supervisors on my team. I each of these 4 people multiple times a week where I would review my progress and work with them to consider what I should focus on. I felt that whenever I had an issue I could bring it up very easily.
Culture
The culture was very friendly. I was encouraged to work from home whenever I wanted to for any reason which promoted a really positive work-life balance. I also got given friday afternoons off as per PWC's summer working hours scheme.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it and have nothing but positives. I was new to the city and PwC organised socials to interact with the other interns. I got great professional experience and really enjoyed the work.
Yes
Make sure you research the company really well when applying if you want to stand out. The internship itself is a great experience all around which I cannot recommend enough. The environment is friendly and make sure to talk to people.
