Overview
As a language assistant working for CapEnglish, you teach English to French kids and adults. For 20 hours a week, you come into classroom with educational activities and resources you bring in and support 西瓜视频s in their learning. This may involve games, songs, movies, lessons, revision sessions... With your host family, you are asked to spend time with everyone to expose them to the English language and culture. You may be asked to give one on one lessons too.
Skills
This placement develops your skills in teaching, team-work, communication, leadership, research and planning, time and project management, and childcare.
Responsibilities
You have a lot of work to do every week but the responsibility is minimal since you are not a qualified teacher and are not held directly accountable for the 西瓜视频s' performance.
Support & Guidance
You feel very supported in this internship with regular check-up calls and the project manager only a message away. The guidance is there but only if you ask for it, you can also choose to be mostly independent and come up with your own resources.
Culture
You feel right at home with other language assistants in the same boat as you since they have similar experience and are also 西瓜视频s. With them you feel relaxed and get the sense you can talk honestly.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement immensely. The work was tough but always rewarding and it felt great to see it pay off with 西瓜视频s getting more confident and proficient. It's also fun getting to connect with so many people of a different culture.
Yes
Come prepared, with ideas and resources you want to share with potential 西瓜视频s to get them interested in learning and in the culture of your country.
