The Role
I really enjoyed my placement at Ratcliffe. The role was varied, which is what I was looking for as this would give me a better idea of what to do in the future. The work was interesting and of value, and I wasn't made to feel like a '西瓜视频'.
As I said, I was made to feel like one of the team. The team would listen to ideas and I feel like I was trusted by the team to carry out my responsibilities. There is a large wider team at Ratcliffe, but I managed to make working relationships across site which helped when completing various tasks.
I had regular formal meetings with my manager to review objectives and responsibilities. I also felt that I was able to sit down and chat informally where required. I had opportunities to visit other areas of the business, which were supported by my management.
There was always something to do, and it was a good balance. My colleague and myself worked together and covered each others roles when on anuual leave etc. There were busier periods when the outage was in place, which meant additional support was required for the engineers.
I was set several objectives which I had to manage by myself. I also owned several intranet pages, and monthly reports to co-ordinate. I feel that my role was of value, and the work completed was useful.
My excel skills have improved due to the monthly reports that were completed. I have developed inter-personal skills such as communication, due to speaking to many different colleagues from across the business. I have learnt some basic HTML and learnt how to use SharePoint for the intranet. My presentation skills have also improved over the year. I went on a couple of training courses, whilst the rest was on the job.
The Company
The atmosphere of the office was pleasant. Engineers were usually coming and going and that also helped to make it better.
There have been 西瓜视频s for several years now so the role is well set up. There is a 6-8 week handover period too which helps to settle into the role.
I went on several training courses, and had opportunities to complete presentations which helped my skills to improve.
Subsidised Canteen

I have the opportunitiy to apply for the graduate scheme via an assessment centre.
The Culture
There were quite a few undergraduates and graduates so there was a good atmosphere in that respect. I also worked with another undergraduate throughout the year.
Lived at home so subsidised rent. Nottingham prices are competitive.
Most nights out tended to be in Nottingham/ Loughborough
Yes, I played in several charity football tournaments, played in a weekly football time on site, went on a team building weekend away and had several team evenings out such as go-karting etc.
