The Role
I enjoyed my placement as I was given more responsibility and I was able to work with various people to complete my tasks set by my line manager.
They trusted me by giving me greater responsibility, everyone on the project was willing to help when I needed assistance.
My line manager and buddy were always at hand to help when I needed it. I would work independently to try and complete the task set, if I encountered any issues they would help me
I was kept busy at all times, there was always something for me to do. each day would be different I also had tasks which I conducted on a weekly basis. I was able to do other tasks set by Costain throughout my placement and fit it in during my work.
I was given more responsibility during my summer placement this year and was able to learn a lot from the given responsibility
I was able to learn a lot of practical skills which may not be touched on a lot during university. From these skills I can apply them and integrate it with my theoretical knowledge gained from university studies.
The Company
There was a right balance between fun and work.
the tasks set by costain has been invaluable and allowed myself to further understanding the project and understand the roles of certain personnel on the project
I was not able to go onto any training courses. But development through the given responsbility where I was able to develop my practical skills e.g. surveying skills.
I will still need to go through an interview and presentation stage with Costain, but they have clearly stated the process. The company places great ethos on getting chartered which is a big plus
The Culture
Some 西瓜视频s on summer placement/industrial year had arranged nights out so we could all get to know each other.
London is an expensive area from living to travelling costs.
There is a wide variety of bars/ restaurants to choose from in the surrounding area.
I did not see any opportunity to get involved with activities outside of work
