The Role
Great placement for 2 months in Shanghai where I was fully involved in the company by my supervisor and colleagues. Greatly enhanced my knowledge about Chinese business culture, and given a lot of responsibility. Included organising a UK Government backed workshop on PPP for CEOs operating in Shanghai. I could not recommend CRCC Asia any more - real life changing experience.
Still keep in contact with many of my colleagues. Socialised with those in my team during lunch and at the weekends.
My supervisor insisted on weekly meetings to discuss my achievements and responsibilities for the entire internship and the week going forward. This made sure I knew exactly what I was doing and contributing to the company. Culminated in a job offer from my supervisor though I had to turn it down as I'd already found alternative employment.
Although I went through CRCC Asia who are effectively a middle man, the company chooses you for their internship. As a result I went to work on specific projects and tasks that they had set aside for me. I was always busy and thus able to learn a lot from my experience.
As said I was treated more like a full time member of staff and fully incorporated into the organisation from day one. Was given real responsibilities that allowed me learn an awful lot. Great boost to my CV that employers have been really interested in since returning home.
My CV is unrecognisable now compared to before the internship. Being given tasks that afforded real responsibility I learnt a lot and developed nearly all key competencies employers look for. Examples being communication: liaising with CEOs of MNCs, project management: regarding the Government backed PPP workshop, analysis: strategic analysis of the organisations internal performance making recommendations on how to increase profit by as much as 340% on events, presentation skills and report writing: both to the board and the executive director.
The Company
Office was constantly hard at work creating a real professional working environment. Everyone got on really well though and we all went to lunch every day together as a team.
As said, could not rate it any higher. Have learnt so much. handled really well from beginning to end, with 24/7 support from CRCC Asia throughout.
They treated me like a full time employee and offered me a job. They were willing to invest a lot of time and management into me to make sure I was able to learn and develop.

As said offered a job, but couldn't take it due to having made prior committments
The Culture
CRCC Asia organised weekly events and sent us an email every Monday with recommended CRCC Asia and external activities. These activities included networking, social and business events so that we could make the most of our time there. CRCC Asia events were really well run and attended.
The programme is expensive but you certainly get what you pay for. Is a great investment and if you give it your all then you certainly get the reward. China itself is really cheap though which definitely makes up for it.
Really cheap but great quality! Made for great nights out! Bar Rouge and Mint in Shanghai are amazing.
There is always something going on in Shanghai and CRCC Asia told us of the best events to go to external to the programme to make the most of our time there. Really great for making contacts.
