The Role
I loved every moment! I was fortunate to observe so much pathology which really helped with my professional exams.
Having worked for Specsavers on their work experience placement, I already knew my colleagues. Being in the store for a year really helped me to bond with all of them.
My supervisor was great and regularly reviewed my work. I also had the chance to shadow them on occasions where they were testing interesting patients which I needed to observe for my records.
I ran a very full clinic towards the end of my placement and although I left when the store closed, work did not stop there as I was constantly revising for the final exams.
I was given lots of responsibility especially towards the end of the year. I had control over the management of my own patients.
There are so many skills here! Problem solving skills have been enhanced due to experiencing a variety of patient episode. In addition my communication skills have been challenged especially when dealing with complaints or unhappy patients.
The Company
I got along with everyone in my team which made the year so enjoyable. They were all very supportive and aware that I needed support during my training which was an immense help.
The training was communicated well before which allowed me to plan my holidays and days of work accordingly.
The company invested in providing us with the required training as well as our exams and membership fees.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
I was offered a full time newly qualified position post the pre-registration placement.
The Culture
Due to the fact that optometry is relatively small, I knew a lot of the other pre-registration 西瓜视频s and we all regularly met up.
Being brought up in London, I noticed no difference from university and pre-registration placement.
The nightlife in London is genuinely fantastic and I would encourage anyone to experience it. There is always something to do and see!
There were numerous socials outside of work when I was able to pry myself away from my studies.
