The Role
The job was good, but not really suited to me. A better proccess where candidates were asked in depth about what they would like to do would be useful.
A friendly group of people
Some supervisors more helpful than others. My main placement supervisor was very good; gave me projects and helped me out.
Just about right, some quiet and busy spots but I imagine this is quite usual
It was great to be in a placement where I felt I had a large responsibility - makes you feel like you are a valued, equal member of the team
I do not think my placement will have helped my degree grade and technical knowledge. However I have gained a lot of experience in areas not covered my degree (contractual, suppliers etc.), which I beleive will be extremely useful when I come to getting a full time job.
The Company
Plenty of banter
Very much driven by yourself as the intern, if you want something to happen, you have to go get it. There is no structured 'placement scheme'
I had the oppertunity to attend several training courses that were financially expensive but benefitted my development greatly
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
I do not feel my skills are suited to the particular organisation
The Culture
Everyone ate together at lunch and we organised nights out. However this was not the case at some of the locations offered by E.ON
Fairly normal prices
Nottingham has a lot of bars and clubs
Shutdown Games were organised each summer for all staff and contractors at the power station. These were very good but are only about 5 events per year
