    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The role was was very enjoyable as there was a wide variety of tasks and each day was different. The people around me also made work enjoyable.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was given plenty of responsibility. I felt that colleagues trusted me to perform and appreciated the work I did.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support and guidance was great. It was there when I really needed it but management also knew when to let me figure out how to do things myself. I feel a good balance between those two things is very important and I had that during my placement.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was occupied almost all of the time. There were some times at the beginning of my placement when there was less to do but usually asking management for more work solved this.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a very good level of responsibility and was left to complete most tasks without supervision. I was also given permission to use company funds to buy stationary items and paper for a large part of the site.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The variety of tasks has lead to me developing my existing skills and picking up a huge amount of new ones. This placement will definately benefit me for the future in terms of completing my degree and improving my employability.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • A good balance of proffessionalism and a friendly atmosphere.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My progress was followed and checked throughout the placement and a good handover period ensured I had the correct training. The only criticism I would have is that it took too long to get the computer software I needed to do part of my job.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was trained to do my day to day job by the previous undergraduated and I also went on some training courses although none were relevant to my degree. However I was encouraged to visit other teams and sites to widen my knowledge in other business areas. I took advantage of this and it was worthwhile.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There is a fast track onto the E.ON graduate scheme if management opt you in however I will still have to attend the assessment centre and there has been a very low success rate from previous undergraduates who performed well in their role, in my business area. However I will still be taking this free opportunity.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • Undergraduates socialised on a regular basis.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • My original home is nearby so I simply moved back there making it cheap for living. However my placement is in a location where a car is probably required and the cost of running one is high. There is also a train station within 20 mins walk but the cost of catching the train every day would be a large factor.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I lived in Derby where I am originally from and nightlife is poor. However the closest city to my placement is Nottingham and that is where most other undergraduates live. Nightlife there is a lot better.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Activities organised and paid for by the company included bowling, go-karting, sports day, pub quiz, team meals.
