    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I struggled to get enough work most of the time once I had completed all of my monthly tasks during this placement.

    1/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I got on well with most of my colleagues in the department.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support was always available through my line manager which was really helpful throughout the year.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My workload came in peaks and troughs. Some days I had a lot of work to do but most of the time I had to ask for work to do and was asked several times if there was any university work I could do in preparation for my final year. I found this inappropriate as I was using this year to learn new skills outside of my studies instead of continuing them whilst on a work placement.

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My main repsonsibilities were to perform all of the administration of audit reports for the department to correspond with our head offices in Germany. However this came in peaks and troughs normally at month end was my busiest time.

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • On a positive note it has been good experience to work in a full time position for a big six energy firm.Overall I feel that the department has not given me enough work or experiences on this placement to develop my skills for future employment.

    1/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Quite quiet most of the time but everyone got on well it was a nice atmosphere to work in.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I don't think my placement was very well organised at all. As I have previously mentioned I struggled to get work most of the time which I found quite surprising bearing in mind I was working for a big six energy company. It got to the point where I was asking for work to do and the reply I got back sometimes was "Is there any Uni work you can start for final year to take up your time". There was a lot of organisation put into the administration I had to at certain times of the year but not a lot of attention was directed to me working on audits from start to finish which is where I wanted to get my experience from even if I was just shadowing the auditor. I feel my time could have been put to better use if it was planned towards working with one of the auditors from my department every month to shadow them and conduct field work and admin for them on their audit(s).

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given a short training course on an insight into Internal Audit but nothing else following that.

    1/5

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • Nothing social was organised for the E.ON Undergraduates at the start of the placement.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It can be pretty cheap around Coventry it depends if you want to live in shared or unshared accommodation. Both of which are fairly cheap.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Friday nights are pretty good in Coventry, Birmingham is also great fun at the weekends :)

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There is a sports and social club which you can sign up for and quite a few football teams on each E.On site. Coventry has a lot to offer in terms of sport for whatever takes your fancy.
