The Role
The internship was very interesting and gave me a great insight into the industry as well as teaching me a lot about power stations
There was positive feedback from all my colleagues and they really helped you when you were completing a task or wanting to find out more information.
My line manager was really good he supported me and tried to get me involved in many different aspects of what they were doing in his department.
Work could vary from very early starts when I had to travel to meetings in different cities, to sometimes waiting for someone to finish completing a piece of work so that i could look at it.
It varied and since I was a first year intern the volume they could give me was limited but I did get more responsibilty nearer the end of my placement.
I now know far more regarding the industry and some of the topics that I learnt about while going around power stations I now use in University. It also gives you a great insight into what the Engineers do and the skills that you need to develop.
The Company
It was a reasonably open and relaxed office, it was a confortable environment to work in.
I was the first placement 西瓜视频 they had had in this department, even so my line manager always tried to arrange for me to be exposed to everything they were doing in order to keep it interesting.
Since I was there for a short period of time there was no official training however I do see the fact that I was taken to power stations around the country as a good learning experience. Further in making specifications I learnt a huge deal of what goes in to the business side of the energy industry.
National Travel
My line manager said that I could come back the following year to his department or he might try and organise a placement in another sector of the company if I wanted.
The Culture
Since I was the only placement 西瓜视频 there was really no socialising beyond the work place.
I rented out a room in someones house in Coventry it was at a very reasonable price and the company payed for my expenses.
Did not really try out the nightlife. Did not look or sound great from the word in the office
Yes there were many opportunities especially those around raising money for charities. The three peaks challenge was organised which i took part in and was a great experience. I also got to meet people from other departments.
