    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight programme was very well organised and structured throughout the week. On the first day we had a presentation given by the Senior Managing Director and Chairman of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) !

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • At the start and towards the end of each day we had a briefing coordinated by senior people in our department. It was a great chance to ask questions and find out more about the company. We were always told that there is no such thing as "stupid question".

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Our task was to work on a small project throughout the week. This was quite challenging since it was a real project which at the time was also being carried out by full-time employees. Our mentors wanted to see if we could contribute some new ideas. However they were aware of the time constraints we were given.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned huge amount during this week. Especially the difference between university and work life. I had a chance to see and understand the complexity of ALADDIN and how it connects and allows people from different departments to collaborate. On the first day, we were taught how to present effectively which will definitely be useful in my future career.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • There wasn't time when I felt bored or confused about what I was supposed to be doing. There were amazing social events like bowling and drink receptions where I had a chance to network with 西瓜视频s from other departments.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Fantastic. I did not expect people from a financial institution to be so much fun. The atmosphere was always relaxed and friendly. Also, all the candidates I met were super smart but at the same time plainspoken and fun to talk to.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Amazing set of presentations on the first day including personal development session. I also had a chance to present in front of ~30 full-time employees and current graduates which clearly indicates that BlackRock took us seriously and wanted us to get something out of the programme.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • We were given a chance to talk to people working in every possible group within our department. We could ask tonnes of questions and no one was upset by that. There was also a work shadowing session where we were able to get more detailed information about specific roles.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • This insight helped me realise how culture can differ from one financial institution to another. BlackRock definitely stands out in this respect. People working there feel proud of what they're doing on a daily basis!

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I had a lot of opportunity to explore different roles within the company and ask questions. However we only had one work shadowing session which, I found, was not enough to decide what role would best suit me in the future.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Although the receipts were collected on the first day, I still have not received any reimbursement...

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • As explained before, we had lots of opportunities to talk to senior staff and current graduates about their roles and day to day work and culture at BlackRock during presentations, work shadowing and demonstrations.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Just about right. We had drink receptions throughout the week. The highlight was the bowling session on Wednesday where we really got to know each other very well. The farewell event on Friday was held in the Anthologist - really cool place.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Unfortunately there was little information on that topic. I am aware of hackathons organised by the company where employees from all departments have a chance to learn some coding as well as some sport clubs.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Definitely. Best interview and work experience ever. Smart and very approachable people - both staff and candidates. Fantastic company culture and great social events. Lots of opportunities to learn new skills.
