About You
I had a brilliant time on this insight programme
I think that the time that existing employees were willing to give up for us, made me feel particularly valued. Having a Managing Director clear his whole Friday schedule, to show us around the building, allow us to sit in on a conference call with the New York office, before then coming out for the leaving social with us was a particular highlight.
Literally loads. Employees from all rungs of the ladder gave us a lot of support, from members of the graduate scheme, to - as previously mentioned - Managing Directors, in a variety of different roles and business areas were all willing to chat about their experiences, their lifestyles, and BlackRock itself.
The additional understanding of finance and technology was extremely interesting, and will be of great benefit in the future.
The Company
The insight programme was very well structured.
Personally, I genuinely had a great time on the insight programme and it seemed to me that others were enjoying it also. I think that even more telling, was the apparent atmosphere from the existing employees who all seemed happy, and eager to help and often just to have a friendly chat.
Obviously no formal qualifications were sat, however the extent to which a solid coverage of almost all of BlackRock's business areas was given was impressive, and I think stemmed from a general commitment across the firm to providing a good experience for us on the scheme.
A lot, I hope. It seemed as if a number of the employees had stayed with the firm for a number of years, which is probably a testament to how much they have enjoyed the company so far. Also, witnessing a variety of people in their day-to-day roles, and talking us through the sort of work that they undertake, was particularly interesting.
As previously mentioned, a lot.
After this insight programme, I genuinely would say that BlackRock are now incredibly high on (if not at the top of) the list of companies that I would seek a long-term career at, after university.
Everything Else
The company covered travel, and I believe offered reimbursement for accommodation for those who lived too far away for
There were a number of these. We had opportunities to network among ourselves - with some people currently on the graduate scheme - as well as employees from all over the company.
Brilliant, I had a great time. The opportunities among the interns were brilliant, and it was nice that other employees came along.
I spoke to a couple of employees about their activities outside of work, and it gave the impression of a relatively healthy work-life balance within the company.
I wouldn't hesitate for even a second, in recommending this scheme.
