The Role
I was working in a very good team within client businesses. I was given task I had to complete and got support from my manager and the team whenever I needed. It was challenging and exciting at the same time.
The team itself has a very unique feel from my first few hours I could see that most colleagues were like friends. It was a great environment to work in.
My manager ensured I was always alright and we scheduled for weekly catch ups. He really was interested in what I was learning and how he could support me.
At the early stage I was given two projects to work on but for me to do so I had to understand the business and understand the team I was working in. I probably didn't start working full on until the 3rd or 4th week of my internship.
I was in charge of my own project I could work on it how and when I wanted. All I had to do was deliver it at the end of the internship.
Time management and presentation skills are so crucial. I will definitely take these skills back to uni.
The Company
As I previously mentioned the team came across like family and always had something to laugh about.
Every week or 2 weeks we had lunch and learn sessions where different topics were discussed. HR definitely contributed to the smooth running of the programme. Moreover I found the portfolio challenge very good to give the interns an overview of what asset management does.
3 day intensive training personal brand, divisions within the firm and introduction to asset management.
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
Overall good company to work for! Everyone is approchable from MD to analyst.
The Culture
Every Friday some interns would meet for drinks or on some Sunday's we'd go to the museum.
Parents live in london.
Didn't go out.
Yes toastmaster and netball are the two things I kept hearing about.
