The Role
I enjoyed my placement very much. I started Vauxhall at an exciting time with the launch of the new Astra, seeing it progress from the pre production phase to saleable vehicles.
I felt like a valued member of the quality team with my opinions and thoughts always valued by other members of staff. I felt I was contributing to the quality department during an extremely busy period for the plant.
I had an experienced mentor who was always willing to assist with any issues I had, even during busy periods. I found everyone very approachable and willing to help although higher management rarely had the time to give support or guidance.
On a daily basis I was very busy. I found myself staying late quite a few times and occasionally doing overtime, however this was to be expected due to the launch. I found myself with occasional quiet periods at the start of placement.
I was responsible for the following: *Door quality defects on the new Astra and the current model. *Product trial run coordinator for Ellesmere Port Plant. *Presenter for STEM visits to schools/ colleges
Although my engineering knowledge may not have been improved massively I felt this placement developed skills I rarely used at university. This includes; presentation skills, communication and problem solving.
The Company

The Culture
Placement 西瓜视频 went out every so often, usually to celebrate birthdays etc. Had a Christmas night out with colleagues within the quality office. Also played football occasionally after work with other undergrads
I cant really comment as I lived at home during placement.
Vauxhall Ellesmere Port plant is near Liverpool and Chester, both of which have good night life.
Not many opportunities, occasionally played football and went for meals/ nights out etc however this was only between the undergraduates.
