Overview
I worked within the operations department for 13 weeks My days consisted of working on assigned projects and attending group meetings with my teams where I would update them on progress within my projects and any obstacles I had encountered.
Skills
I have learned a lot of new skills. Before starting this internship I lacked a lot of confidence with excel, but MS has really improved my confidence and enabled me to learn new things. My communication skills have also improved through regular group meetings etc
Responsibilities
Yes I was given a lot of responsibility. I had 3 individual projects over the 13 weeks which I had to complete, my boss also allowed me to see what would be done with my finished projects which allowed me to understand the importance of them more
Support & Guidance
A lot, I was assigned a buddy who I spoke to every day, this really helped with my confidence and helped me to build better relationships through a remote environment
Culture
It was great, everyone was so supportive and worked so well as a team. It really felt like an environment I would like to work in in the future, and all the core values could be seen through my team
Your Impressions
I think this placement is one of the best things I've ever done. Reflecting back, it has allowed me to grow so much as a person and has really helped me to understand the work I would enjoy doing in the future. I met so many amazing people and learned so many skills that I would never have pushed myself to do elsewhere
Yes
DO IT, whether you think the finance industry is for you or not, it is so worth applying. I never was into finance prior to this internship so was sceptical as to how much I would enjoy it, but it鈥檚 really opened my eyes into how broad the industry is. It is an opportunity not to be turned down
