Overview
Working on morning summaries for the trading floor, develop trade ideas, and help with administrative tasks.
Skills
I improved skills related with fast-pace environments, dealing with stressed people, delivering good performance under stress situations, and similar skills. As well, I learnt some technical skills related with different products that the firm works with.
Responsibilities
The fact that the industry is that regulated, makes it hard for interns to be given much responsability. However, on some of the administrative tasks, I could really feel like I was helping the firm. As well, when working on morning summaries, I realized I was helping sales and trading teams to get some market color before the day started.
Support & Guidance
It was amazing to see how I could count on HR and on people within the Sales & Trading division, when it came to a matter of learning and asking for advice.
Culture
I feel is one of the best cultures I have ever seen in a company. It is clearly shaped by the 5 core values: Do the right thing, put clients first, lead with exceptional ideas, commit to diversity and inclusion, and give back. I could feel all these values when dealing with people within the firm, from juniors to seniors.
Your Impressions
I think it has been the best professional experience so far, as I was challenged everyday, and that made me learn a lot during the internship. As well, it taught me how it really feels to work for such a huge company, and see whether I was a good fit or not.
Yes
Be yourself, try to network with as many people as you can, and be open-minded. Do not get obsessed about the technical knowledge, as no one is expecting you to know much. Just enjoy it and NETWORK.
