Overview
Meetings with manager and co-workers, programming in Java, AngularJS, learning how to run Spring Boot, feedback sessions with other co-workers on the product I was developing.
Skills
I learnt Java, Angular, Spring Boot, managing nerves during presentations, and I developed my time management skills.
Responsibilities
I was the sole person in charge of the project I was developing, and it was a project that is going to have a significant impact on the day to day operations of the team I was working under. This made me feel useful and meant feedback was always constructive, since the tool could always be improved.
Support & Guidance
My manager was very attentive, always knew how to delegate, and my co-workers were always willing to spend some time helping me or teaching me some concepts relating to finance or technology.
Culture
The company culture was as I expected, very friendly, inclusive, always open to new ideas and encouraging people to explore their interests as much as possible. It also encouraged taking initiative, not only regarding work, but also regarding social or charitable interests.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my team very much as they were extremely friendly and helpful. The work I was given pushed me on occasions and taught me a lot, which was my central aim for the summer, and the internship exceeded my expectations since it was online, and I didn't have high expectations for an online internship.
Yes
Be yourself, do not listen to the media/prejudices about the environment at investment banks, since the environment at the technology department is amazing. I would also recommend prepping heavily for interviews, as they are extensive and fast-paced.
