Overview
I was placed in a team and given my own project to work on for the ten weeks. Day-to-day activities included project work, attending team meetings, intern talks and small group activities.
Skills
My technical skills improved a lot with practice. Although there wasn't compulsory specific training we did have access to online courses to do at our leisure or when necessary.
Responsibilities
Yes, my project related directly to what the team were working on and was deployed.
Support & Guidance
I received endless support from my manager, although from what I heard this changed a lot from team to team, depending on your manager. Some were a lot less hands on and the interns were left to fend for themselves more.
Culture
In the tech department people were very social and easy going. It was a lot less intense (hours and culture wise) than other departments link IB or Sales & Trading. Team drinks and lunches were a frequent occurrence.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my summer placement a lot. There were a lot of events made specifically for the interns and it was a very social environment. My project was the right level of challenging for the time available and my (lacking) previous experience.
Yes
The tech internships are not limited to Computer Science 西瓜视频s, there were lots of maths, physics, engineering etc 西瓜视频s. The level of your project was chosen to match your prior knowledge.
