Overview
My role is to assist the team with any of their on going projects. Despite being in a smaller team, they work on a wide variety of tasks which means that every day is different. Generally, I will check my emails and see what tasks have been allocated for me that day. My tasks range from writing out reports to building excel spreadsheets with market comparables. I have also attended site visits and property inspections alongside my graduate mentor as well as directors on the team.
Skills
Having the opportunity to gain real life experience in the office is invaluable. It has allowed me to develop my communication skills as well as my computer skills.
Responsibilities
I was in charge of compiling reports, drafting letters and researching relevant information for on going projects. Whilst these may not be the most important tasks in the world, as an intern I felt like I was allocated the correct amount of responsibility for my position.
Support & Guidance
My graduate mentor was absolutely fantastic, I cannot fault him. Before I had even arrived He reached out to me to ensure that I understood what to expect on my first day. He always ensured that I was occupied with something and took the time to help me with my CV and my Linkedln page. I was able to go on a site visit with him which was a fantastic opportunity for me to gain further insight into the role of a surveyor.
Culture
Savills is a fantastic firm that has a welcoming and accepting culture. Everyone in the firm takes the time to speak with you and help you in any way that they can. The atmosphere in the office is very friendly and relaxed.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my summer internship with Savills. It was a fantastic opportunity for me to gain insight in the dynamic field of real estate and ultimately it has helped me decide that it is what I want to do when I graduate.
